Hi David,

Have you got the right parish for William Cooper's baptism in 1724?

I have the transcripts from the SuffolkFHS and Stansfield is in the Clare Deanery but no William
for 1724 is shown.

Hi David,
I've had another look but still cannot see a William Cooper bapt. in 1724.
Could it be he was baptised in a Independent/Non-Conformist chapel etc.  which are not covered by
my records.
You also mention a baptism  in 1827 - ?typo??

Looking on Ancy... they also have conflicting dates of birth 1724 & bapt. 1827 - so not an error of yours.

In fact looking at a later entry they say (Anc..y)  he was born 6-4-1824 & bapt. 2-8-1827 (s/o George Cooper & Elizabeth Ann) in Stansfield.

Hi David,

It looks like George Cooper married Elizabeth Steel 20-11-1817 in Flempton, St.Catherine  with Hengrave, Suffolk.
The only other info is that Elizabeth was of "Chimney Mills".

Does this help?

Hi Alan

Looks like I might have this line wrong. If I go back a generation I have a John Cooper baptised in Hundon 20th June 1744 son of William Cooper and Mary Brownsmith. Would you be able to tell me if this entry is correct please.

Many thanks

David

H David,

There is an entry for a John Cooper bapt. 20-6-1744 (s/o William & Mary) in Hundon All Saints followed by another entry for same parents for
John 28-5-1749 in Hundon. Presumably the first died  although I can't find a definte burial - nothing for Hundon.

Do You know where Mary Brownsmith came from - nothing shows for her bapt. in Clare deanery.

Hi Alan

I thin k I have that bit right Mary was born in Boxford and they matrried in Postead in 1743. That still leaves me trying to find where William was born.

Kind Regards

David

Hi,

That still leaves me trying to find where William was born

There is a William Cooper bapt. 24-8-1694 s/o Roger & Hannah in Hundon All Saints.
That's the only William I could see for this parish.
