Thanks for that Carol.  There were 3 Timms Men eligible to serve in WW1 George Henry Timms but he was 32 and 6 months, John Timms born 1890 ( not found him though since 1901) although his father said he was still alive on 1911 census and Thomas who was killed in Ypres October 2014 and his next of kin named as his Uncle Henry (address is correct with 1911 census)

To me it looks like Royal West Surrey Regiment

Would this be a likely regiment?

Tomorrow I am going to try and blow the badge up. The lady on the photo was born in Salford but moved to Nottingham when she was 2.  We thought it might be the Manchester Regiment as she had 3 brothers who lived in the Manchester Area.

Well I have tried to blow it up and I have looked at it with an eye glass and I have come to the conclusion that it is the Royal Surrey Regiment and not the Manchester so I don't know what the affiliation was.  Anyone help with the Royal Surrey Regiment either John Timms or Percy Dowlman left the navy and joined the army?
