John KENNEDY 1772. m. 1803 Jean McCrea 1780 -
« on: Wednesday 04 September 19 16:07 BST (UK) »
Just confirmed via my smallest DNA link that my most distant ancestors so far
are this couple from  Old Cumnock  Ayr

I was having difficulties sorting between all the John & David KENNEDYs
but the DNA match has kindly confirmed all the BMDs
John stocking weaver : son of John and Mary KENNEDY b1750

m Jean McCrea children

Agnes 1803
David 1805-1873 * see below

John 1812. m.Agnes ELLIOT emigrated Agnes Kennedy b1850  Ary

Andrew  Oct 1814 Ayr

James 1816 Ayr
Thomas1819 shoemaker Lanarkshire
Marion 1823 m Robert HUNTER 1825 son Robert daugters marion and Elizabeth

& Maybe a George + Elizabeth too

direct line to me is thru shoemaker
David KENNEDY 1805

Who had a son David Kennedy BLAIN GALLOWAY b1829 with Euphemia Blane in nearby Maybole

David KENNEDY 1805 married Agne Mcgeachin in 1841
They had children  John 1842 Hugh 1849 and AGness 1856-1938
I'm.also matching with DNA to people who have McGEACHIN or variants on their trees but can't join any dots

I have a post about   McBLAIN / HAMILTON S of Maybole
(Can't copy link sorry)

I'd like to know if anyone has families with the names KENNEDY MCCREA MCGEACHIN. In or around Old Cumnock in the 1800's..how many were shoemakers and how many  emigrated

The DNA matches are mostly in USA and dont have obvious connections to Scotland

Thanks in advance

The 1841 census is on Freereg. All the names you mention are listed in Old Cumnock. You will need to use soundex because there are various spellings. There are shoemakers among them.
