Hi,

When she married in 1861,  the clergy were required to record info about her and her parents... where/when  she was born, the names of her parents ...  That info may not have been registered on the NSWBDM summary of the civil registration process but should be on the parish register.   Do you have it?

Alternatively,  what info is noted on her death registration in response to the question re 'how long in the colonies' ....

And,  have you considered the possibility of her birth in NSW?  The surname spelling could well be mashed and mangled  by the authorities in that era... and misread by transcribers in more recent times...

I have asked the volunteer moderating team to move this thread to the main Australia board (currently it is on the completed board).

I now notice you have other thread/s re Elizabeth DUIGMAN and that the 1861 marriage was in the colony of Victoria.  And that she settled with her husband in the colony of New Zealand.

Why do you think she came to the colony of NSW? .... is there oral history or official documents to give NSW as a clue?  NZ was hived off NSW in 1840,  and VIC was hived off NSW in 1851...

 - previous threads

So she was born Ireland, possibly around 1840/1

Possibly the woman who arrived into Victoria as Eliza Duignan, January 1859, on the Empire Queen, aged 18.  There does not seem to be anyone with her with the same surname.
