Why can't I find my Great Uncle
« on: Saturday 14 September 19 19:33 BST (UK) »
Can someone help.

I have problems researching my Great Uncle Joseph Beaver

He can be found in 1891 Census and Family Search has his baptism 24 April 1889, Linchmere, Sussex.

I cannot find his birth or death in any of the register indexes.

He is also cannot be found in 1901 or 1911 census - could he have gone abroad.

Regards

Who were his parents - and were they married to one another when he was born?

Have you checked alternate spellings of the surname?

Did he have siblings, and if so were their births registered?

Haslemere should register in Hambledon at that time.

Parents: (Henry) William Beaver and Ellen/Eleanor Matilda Langridge, per online tree - which does not show a marriage for them.

Presumably, you have the rest of the family in records, is it just Joseph who is the mystery?

Here is the baptism again - William and Ellen described as ‘Vagrants’ which may account for the missing birth record.

Hi Heywood

Thank you for the link for Joseph's baptism

I have all the information on Joseph's siblings.

As I cannot find a marriage for his parents, I suspect Ellen was already married and Langridge was her married name.

Not of the family appear on 1901 or 1911 census
