Duncan Urquhart born Inverness 1888
« on: Friday 20 September 19 20:50 BST (UK) »
Does anyone have any information of Duncan Urquhart born c 1888 to a Mary Urquhart.  Any family and father's name would be great.

He enlisted and served with the Gordon Highlanders but enlisted in Gravesend, Kent where he, appartently, was residing.  Can find no evidence of this.  He died 17 Sept 1916

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you crisane, I have found this on Ancestry - are you able to see the original document or anything relating - i.e 1891 or 1911 censuses or births, marriages etc?

I don't have access to the records on ScotlandsPeople but doing a free search Evelyn's birth registration gives her middle name as McRae.
Unfortunately there are two birth registrations in 1888 for a Duncan Urquhart. One of them has the middle name McMillan.
Maybe purchase a few credts for Scotlandspeople and buy the birth certificate?

Hi
Are you saying that he died whilst serving in WW1 because I can't see him on the CWGC site. The only Duncan Urquhart they have listed is one who died 2 November 1916 age 35 and served with the Cameron Highlanders and was the son of Murdo Urquhart, of 5, Brown St., Inverness.
Where did you find the information that he joined the Gordon Highlanders but enlisted in Gravesend, Kent where he, apparently, was residing.

Hiya,

I looked at CWGC too -  Duncan is listed as D Urquhart  - his first name is not recorded.

Looby :)

Sorry, Duncan is not mine  ;D
K8T is looking for info on him.
I was just reading through the thread to see if I could assist and had looked up CWGC when you posted your query, crisane.
