Restoration of photo of wife’s grandfather Edwin Tippings

Hoping someone can please help restore this photo of my wife’s grandfather which we have only recently discovered.

Edwin Tippings was born in 1889 and, sadly, was killed during an air raid in London on 19 April 1944.
He was serving as an ARP warden at the time and I don’t know if this was his uniform or an armed forces uniform. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ajay....Is there any chance that you can scan the photo at 400dpi as the photo is a very small file at 40kbs, you can post a file size of up to 500dpi on here which would give us more to work with and do your photo justice.

You will need to rename the file when post it a son's time, just add a number.

The collar badge looks like WW2 St John Ambulance Brigade.
Could be in the ARP as well with a Yellow ARP Sleeve Badge.
