Richard PARSONS m Elizabeth BROWNE 1842 Geelong
« on: Saturday 28 September 19 09:09 BST (UK) »
Hi All

I have the marriage record of the above. They married 29 October, 1842 at Geelong, Presbyterian marriage. The witnesses were Henry BROWNE and Margaret FRIEND.

What I would like to know is when/ where Richard and Elizabeth were born and when they arrived in Australia if they were born overseas.

There are number of Richard PARSONS who were convicts. Could Richard have been one of these convicts?

Regards
Jennaya

Hi,

Some questions for pondering ...

Did the clergy make any 'margin' notes anywhere on the church register ....
 :) bachelor/spinster/widowed
:) ages (sometimes as numbers near their signatures)
:) if permission was given ... by governor
;) did they sign? or make their mark?

Thanks everyone.

JM, I purchased this record in 1990 from Vic BDM. Record no 90/5071.

It is actually a whole page copied from a register, with other records as well.

At the top it says presbyterian marriages celebrated in the district of Port Phillip rom the year 1838 to 1843 as recorded in the registrar generals office at Sydney New South Wales.

Then on the line with a star beside it are their names and date and location and witnesses.
