« on: Thursday 18 August 05 22:05 BST (UK) »
I have a wedding certificate for this couple married Hokitika NZ Jan 31, 1877. This lady ex Ireland was ? previously married to Maurice Morton in Australia about 1864 and had a son Maurice George to him in Ballarat, Vict. Aust.
Then she came to NZ, had another son Albert in 1872 also called Morton in ? Christchurch.

As for Edward (Edwin W Hall we have no other info than he was from Devon born about 1850 and he was a butcher.
Can anyone offer help please?

Hi telephonist

There is no Maurice George Morton registered in Victoria in the time frame given.
No marriage for a Mary McCarthy and Maurice Morton.

There is however a Morris MCCARTY born to a Mary MCCARTY in Ballarat in 1866.

The only marriages recorded for Maurice Morton are:-
Maurice Joseph MORTON (born: Galway) & Mary Ann BOYD (born: Donegal) in 1868
Maurice Joseph MORTON (born: Galway) & Mary Ann LEWIS (born: Meath) in 1873

Maurice Joseph MORTON died aged 47 at Durham Lead in 1886.

Cheers
Genni

Thank you for info, I think it might be worth me following up the Morris Morton born to Mary McCarty even though Maurice(thats how its spelt on his death cert) is spelt differently. Another thought I had is I will get the second son Alberts birth cert in NZ and may get added info.
