Evacuation via hospital train.
« on: Thursday 03 October 19 14:06 BST (UK) »
My ancestor was evacuated by hospital train in late Sept. 1918,would he have been sent back to England,or a hospital in France? The casualty list has him suffering from 'debility'.

Their initial destinations were base hospitals.  Good pieces on the subject here

I imagine their would have been some sorting out at the base hospitals of those who could be treated there and those who were onward evacuated to England.

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe
