Burial of Gwen Jones
« on: Friday 04 October 19 19:37 BST (UK) »
Hi

I have just received the death certificate of my gt.gt.gt grandmother Gwen Jones 27th Oct 1844 (registered 29th) of Bethel (Melin-y-coed) just south of Llanrwst town.
Naturally I would like to find her burial but as I believe she was Calvinist Methodists would I still expect to find her in the Llanrwst Parish Register?

Thanks

Hi Beatle

I've had a quick look in the Llanrwst burials but she's not listed.  She might be listed  in the non-conformist registers.*

Thank you Gadget.

Oh that's a surprise  ???  as she was baptised and lived in Llanrwst. She was however married at Caerhun (to Hugh Jones) maybe I need to look there?

Thanks again.

If she was buried in Llanrwst and she was a Calvinistic Methodist, the service could have been held at one of the chapels listed here:

Burials:
https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery-browse/Wales/Conwy/Llanrwst?id=city_406941

I've checked the Seion one but she's not listed.

Thanks so much Gadget for your help.

I'm not sure what to do now. I would have been convinced that she was buried at Bethel Methodist Chapel, Melin-Y-Coed as they lived next door in the chapel house (Ty Chapel Bethel) and the chapel was built in 1821, 23 years before she died.

Cheers

I wonder if Denbighshire Archives might have the records?  Or it might be worth contacting the chapel?  My great grandfather was a Methodist preacher but he was buried in the church yard after a Methodist  service at the house.

Denbighshire Archives: http://archives.denbighshire.gov.uk/

They have always been very helpful when I've contacted them  :)
