Blanche Ellen Foot
« on: Sunday 06 October 19 15:21 BST (UK) »
Hi
My 2nd great grandmother, Blanche Ellen Foot, was born in Sherborne Union Work House in 1864 to Mary Ann Foot (no father listed). She disappears for 25 years until she marries Frederick Upshall in 1889 and moves to Wales.

I'm interested in finding out more about her side of the family, but not having much luck. Does anybody have any suggestions?
thank you

Yes she certainly is elusive between those dates isn't she  :-\

I found her on a family tree with the correct husband but it gives her parents as

Charles Foot &
Sarah Maria Hamblin

Sarah Maria is unmarried at 40 and living at home in 1881 so I don't think this can be right.

There are no pre marriage census details shown for Blanche  :(
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Welcome to rootschat

I see she gives her abode when she marries in Wales as Dorchester, Dorset.  One of the witnesses appears to be a George Foot, have you traced him prior to the marriage.

Father is named as Charles Foot occ Labourer - made up to cover her illegitimacy  :-\

Maybe not. This family was in Corton Denham, Somerset by 1871 - no sign of Blanche with them.

Thank you all for your replies.

I’m new to genealogy so please excuse my green questions. I’m interested in finding out more about George Foot, as mentioned in the quote below, but I can’t find this marriage record which mentions him as the witness to Blanche’s wedding. Please could you point me in the right direction? Thank you.
