Help needed identifying family in photos
« on: Monday 14 October 19 17:32 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I recently bough a box of paintings at an auction that also included several photos of a Worcestershire family.  I say "Worcestershire" as they're all framed and the names of several different picture framers in Worcester appear on the frames, so it seems reasonable to assume the family was from there too.  I should add also that my main interest is not so much researching the family as simply identifying it, in the hope that I might have enough info to find - perhaps on Facebook - a living relative who may have some interest in taking them as otherwise they will most likely get thrown away.

The main problem is that I don't have a surname to go on.  However there is some info on the back of them that might be sufficient for someone to be able to provide proper identification...

Firstly there are two different photos of the same baby, both have written on the back "Merna Aged One, 1925".

Secondly there are photos of two young women; one says "Tiny 21" and the other says "Merna 21".  Presumably the latter is the same person as in the earlier baby photos.  It may be that Tiny and Merna were sisters?

Can anyone help?  I'm happy to upload images of the photos themselves if this will help aid identification.  (I guess the odds are that all those in them are no longer living.)

We do need to be careful because the subjects may still be living.

Merna is quite an unusual name. There is a possible candidate in the 1924 births in Parshore, Worcestershire.

Maybe ...

I will PM the 1924 mmn Allington one

There is also a birth in 1927 for someone who could be known as 'Tiny' and another in 1929
I have PM'd details of all 3

The Merna we have found has only recently died according to the probate index, surname same as birth.

Thanks for the info; sad to hear of the recent deceased date; I believe that the auction company I bought the photos from does a sideline in house clearances so this is all tending to back up that particular identity.

The 1929 birth daughter shows on 1939 register, so presumably died a little while ago.

The 1927 one marries a Brown, so makes searching more difficult.

Get a copy to see if anything was left to nieces or nephews, or for an address where you can contact someone who might be able to help.

I have found online the name of the church where the service was held and the name of the crematorium for Merna.  I wont post details or links here to respect privacy as it is a recent death.

I will pm the details to drykid, maybe they could contact the church and crematorium to pass a message to the family about the photographs.

This information can be found by searching her full name.
