A check on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) website shows several soldiers with the number 31620 but no MURRAY.

There is a Lance Corporal 21060 Thomas Christopher MURRAY, Wiltshire Regiment died 9 April 1916 on the Basra Memorial.

If you have any further information on your Thomas MURRAY (parents, when and where born, where he lived, and so on) it could help to find him after 1918.

Many thanks Philip,
I came across a few medals at a car boot sale here in Dublin.
The medal reads 31620 PTE. T. MURRAY. WILTS. R.
Frank.

31620 Private Thomas Murray served in 6th Battalion Wiltshire Regiment and was released 16 Feb 1919.  He has no Star among his medals indicating overseas service after the end of 1915.  No service record survives by the look of it.  Potted history of 6th Battalion here:

His Medal Index Card (MIC) is annotated "22.2 54".

I was just reporting it. Presumably it is a date, and perhaps it has some significance.
