George Albert Goffin - uniform ?
« on: Friday 25 October 19 21:40 BST (UK) »
Hi, this is my great-great grandfather and I was wondering if anybody could help me identify the uniform he's wearing and what it was for?

Thank you!

When was he born?  That might help to identify for you.
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Married, living in Sculcoates 1901 as a fisherman?

He is in trees on ancestry, but confusion with another George Albert born in Blofield.

Think you need to put this photo elsewhere, military part of site or common room?

I have requested this to be moved to the armed forces board for a more informed response.

He is a soldier in the Coldstream Guards.  It's a C19th picture.

The cap badge is a cap star of the Guards and the tunic buttons are in pairs as they were the 2nd senior Guards regt.
