DNA KIT (Is This A Bargain)
« on: Saturday 26 October 19 08:19 BST (UK) »
Hi There,
I want to treat my mother in-law to a DNA kit, she would like to possible find about her father, who she dont know about.

At the moment i see myheritage.com are doing the DNA kit for October deal of £49 + £9 post £58 altogether, that expires 3rd Nov 2019.
What does everyone think i should do, should i go for it, is that a bargain.

Regards

Yes, it is a good deal for MyHeritage and would be a starting point. You might also want to consider waiting until the next time AncestryDNA has a sale. If she tests with Ancestry then she would be able to upload the results to MyHeritage, FTDNA, gedmatch and LivingDNA. In the search for a father it is wise to be in as many databases as possible just in case good matches have only used one company. There are two companies, AncestryDNA and 23andme, which do not accept uploads, so doing the test with MyHeritage would not give a foot into those.

They usually have sales in connection with Black Friday and Christmas. Their sale price is often a 25% discount.
