1863 marriage licence for CANNON and SMALLBONE.
« on: Wednesday 30 October 19 18:31 GMT (UK) »
I have found a marriage licence for one of my relatives dated 14th February 1863 at St Peter, Pimlico, Middlesex. Apart from asking myself if these two were incurable romantics, I wonder how long after the licence was issued was it normal to be married. Can anyone help me ? I cannot find a record of their marriage (apart from the GRO entry which just gives the quarter).

Since the relative is rather distant I am loath to pay for a copy of the certificate if I can avoid so doing.

I would hazard a guess at just a few days.  Very often, but not always, a marriage licence was obtained in order to avoid the 3-week Banns time.

Marriage took place 16 February 1863 - FindMyPast have the image - St Peter, Pimlico

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
