Alias on parish records Why?

Can anyone tell me the significance of the alias and why it might appear in the records I believe Williams wife was Sarah Surridge so confused where Rainbird fits

When Sarah married William she was a Widow so Rainbird would be her former married name not maiden surname.

The parish record is on family search.

The clue to looking further is the word alias which mean "at another time known as". This could mean she had been married before or that she had lived with someone as man and wife at some time.
It could also mean that her parents had used a different name or her mother had married another when she was a child.

Whatever the reason it is a clue to search further to find out more about her history.
