Car registration

I have an old photo of a family probably related to me. The photo shows a motor car with the number plate starting with the letters TP. This registration is Portsmouth. Is there any way I could find who the car belonged to?

A useful first place to look for this kind of information is the Kithead Trust - http://kitheadtrust.org.uk/surviving-motor-taxation-records

From information there it looks as though the records you're looking for may be at Portsmouth History Centre.
