Nixon family, Nixon Lodge & Nixon House in County Cavan
« on: Saturday 16 November 19 11:44 GMT (UK) »
i am a descendant of Thomas Nixon born abt 1792 & his wife Isabella Reed born abt 1804. They lived in Tawnymakelly in County Cavan & I believe he owned land & paid tithes on it. I know that both Thomas & Isabella died in Ottawa Canada but I have no idea when they emigrated but it must have been after 1836 because he is still paying tithes in that year. I believe they lived in Nixon Lodge & I think there are ruins of it still on site. Does anyone know anything about Nixon Lodge or have any photos or drawings of how it used to look or how what’s left of it looks now?
Any information on the Nixons of that time will be gratefully received.

Thank you both for the links & newspaper cutting. Interesting.
I know that “my” Thomas Nixon died in 1870 so they are probably not from the same branch of the family.
