Thanks Ciderdrinker for all that info...
I think I will rule out the Thomas Woodward the plush weaver who died age 71 in 1847. I've read the newspaper report & it states he was a pensioner at Royal Hospital Chelsea. He was there age 65 on 1841 census in the Patients Infirmary. I've found 2 marriages in Bloxham where Thomas Woodward, weaver was the father; first of Thomas Woodward in 1837 & second of Ann Woodwards in 1841. I can't see how a plush weaver at that age in 1841 would be a shoemaker in 1847.
Charles Woodward born 1806 was also a plush weaver on 1841 census where is living with first wife Mary with his parents Adam & Ann Woodward, and again in 1851 where he is widowed, & then he marries again in 1852 in Foleshill, Warwicks & his father Adam Woodward is down as plushweaver.
There is a Thomas Woodward age 70 shoemaker living in St.Ebbe, Oxford on 1841 census, living with him is Hannah Woodward age 35 & 2 young children.
There is also a Thomas Woodward born 1802 Bloxham who is a shoemaker living there on 1851 census with wife Sarah (ne Slatyer) who he marries in Middleton Cheyney in 1825. Could he be brother to Jane & Fanny?
I'm still trying to find Jane Woodward on the 1841 census; at her marriage in Sept 1847 she was age 49 & her abode was Sharnbrook, Beds. 1851 census has her age 53, 1861 she is 63, 1871 she is 73, 1881 she is 83 & she died in 1887 age 90. So consistently she was born 1798. I have found a Jane Woodard age 45 living in St.Marys Bedford, think she is a F S (female servant) & perhaps not born in Beds (but that is not at all clear)
Cheers John
