Where is Francis Day Sr?
« on: Wednesday 27 November 19 12:00 GMT (UK) »
My friend's ancestor William Day (born circa 1825 in Worcestershire, died 1890), moved to Chester, Cheshire with his brother Francis Day (born circa 1829, died 1872).

William's wife was Harriot (maiden name unknown) also born in Worcestershire, currently unable to find marriage.

Francis married Mary Edwards in Chester in 1853. His father is listed also as a Francis Day, baker. However, I'm unable to find a parish baptism for a Francis son of Francis in Worcestershire, nor a baptism for William or a marriage of a Francis Day in Worcestershire during the 1800-1830 era.

Would appreciate any help finding a record for this older Francis. The only baptism transcripts I can find for Francis and William list a mother, Elizabeth Day, in Halesowen.

Found a census record in Halesowen in 1841, with no husband present:

Elizabeth   Dey   Female   45   1796
William   Dey   Male   15   1826
Francis   Dey   Male   15   1826
Charles   White   Male   25   1816

Thanks in advance,

Charlie

The fathers name on the marriage of Francis is possibly made up if the baptisms that you have found with just mother Elizabeth are the right children.  I wonder who William named as his father when he married.

This looks like the family you found the baptisms for, all born in County

Hmm...

I can only view a transcript of William's marriage with Harriet, which isn't much help :/

It looks like that Elizabeth could still be in Halesowen in 1851 & 1861.

In 1851 there is also a grandaughter Elizabeth Day age 14
