Thomas Allen Clarke m Margaret ??? in 1862

Hi,

I am sure that my ancestor Thomas Allen Clarke (1830 - 1890), a vet from West Ashby, married a woman called Margaret in Horncastle in 1862.

Does anybody have access to the marriage record as I have no details on Margaret

Have you looked for the marriage on the Free BMD index?  That will give her surname to start things off.

The births registrations of children will confirm her maiden name if you know when/where born.

Ada Mary Frances Clarke born Dec 1864 Horncastle has mothers maiden name Jackson.

Thomas Henry Clarke born Dec 1863 Horncastle also has Jackson.

Birthplace for Margaret is Yorkshire but not finding a marriage record as yet.

Thank you both for your amazingly quick responses, from the census and a lot of puzzling, I think her birthplace is Ainderby Miers, next to Hornby in yorkshire, but for some reason I hadn't found birth certificates of her children.

The marriage from free bmd is actually in Leyburn, in 1861.  I had assumed you had some definite knowledge of the place and year.

Apologies,

I was certain the marriage was in Horncastle - Findmypast.co.uk had a free weekend a few weeks ago and I found it there - but didn't save the screen grab.

Leyburn makes sense - being a few miles from Mararet's birthplace, Maybe I found the wrong Thomas getting married in Horncastle.

Thanks again for your help and sorry if I misled you all, I'll try and do a bit more work before asking for help next time.

The actual newspaper report of 13th September 1861 says:
At St Mary's Church, Hornby, Yorkshire, on the 29th ult.  (by the Rev G Alderson, vicar) Mr Thos A Clarke veterinary-surgeon of Horncastle to Margaret second daughter of Mr Jackson of Ainderby Myres.
