IRELAND family who should be in Luton in 1939

Leonard Charles Ireland married Winifred Maud Tompkins in the second quarter of 1929 in the Luton registration district.

Leonard was born on 14th August 1905 and Winifred on 15th March 1907, both in Luton - sources 1911 census and dates of birth recorded at death.

I believe that they had a son in 1930. Obviously he may well still be alive so I cannot name him.

Leonard and Winifred both died in 1993. I believe that they were still in Luton. Their deaths were registered in the Luton registration district.

I cannot find them in 1939, however hard I try. I appreciate that Leonard may have signed up but I should be able to find Winifred. Has anyone any ideas, please ?

If you enter the name as "Leonard C" (and no other fields), he's the 3rd entry.

Ancestry has his birth year as 1925, and the address as '26'.

Ancestry thinks his birth day is 10th August, it probably is 14th, but I have not corrected that.

The reason they do not know the street address, other than the number, is that the first address showing is 'ditto', and so that is what has been used. 
They have not taken the 'ditto' back to the preceding page because that was not how the transcriptions worked, I think.
