Not sure if this refers to the same James WENTZEL in your original post, however he has the same birth year:

in a list of deserters from the Royal Marine 12 March 1834:
James WENTZEL, 62nd Foot, of Stepney, servant, aged 17 3/4 (and a detailed description)
"was seen on the road to Barnet 28th February"
