Hi, Worthy was born 1893, died 1918 WW1. I know quite a lot about Worthy and his time in the Army other than his enlistment. Cannot find anything on FindMyPast or Anc*. Do his enlistment papers survive anywhere. Thanks

John

Over 60% of WW1 service records were burnt during the WW2 blitz.  Those that survived are on Ancestry/FindMyPast

Presume you have found his Medal Roll Index entry

The war gratuity £12 10s awarded to his father suggests 27 months service at the time of his death in April 1918.

There is this site about war gratuities, it offers a variety of free and paying options, there may be others:

Army Service Numbers  http://armyservicenumbers.blogspot.com/p/index.html

Checked this site for period service numbers might have been allocated - but both Monmouthshire Regt and Borderers only go up to 1914.

Also checked FindMyPast for Mon Regt service numbers around the 3052 mark.

No 3050 - discharged 24 June 1916 after 198 days service (enlisted late 1915?)
No 3048 - enlisted 11/12 Dec 1915
