Where is Newton

According to the 1851 census  William Latham was born in Newton  he is  82. Living in Rainford.
On  20 November 1774 at  St Peter, Liverpool,  there is the baptism of William Latham born 6 November 1774.  - Son of James Latham, occupation Smith.
On 28 April 1794 he married at St Paul, Liverpool. William Latham - White Smith, Liverpool.

I`m not having much luck finding Newton in the area. Can anyone help.

As far as I can recall, there are a number of Newtons in the area. The one I know of is Newton Heath. My mother was in service there in the 1920s

Newton le Willows is another one. However there is not a Newton in Liverpool.

Newton le Willows is the closest of the Newtons to Rainford

Thanks both, I did find the same as you did. Perhaps a search for more children might shed some light.

There is a St Peter's church in Newton-le-Willows, Liverpool Diocese, this could be where William was baptised?
Jewell - Devon, Cornwall and Manchester
North - Somerset, Devon, Dorset, Cardiff and Warrington

That figures - I'd only heard of Newton le Willows and not Makerfield until I looked on Genuki

Lancs parish clerks has a few from 1763, same father, same church.

Probably married or dead by 1851,  :'(
