does anyone know of my mother born. Rose Geelan at 32 Coltness Cottage 04/01/1918. Father Patrick mother Sarah, also does anyone know when Coltness Cottages were demolished

I don't see a birth for Rose, or a marriage of Patrick Geelan to a Sarah.
Do you know if Rose has any older siblings?
Do you know Sarah's maiden name?

There is a published tree which has Rose Geelan/Geilan with parents Patrick G and Sarah McClusky.
There are no birth details for Rose except Lanarkshire, Scotland.
It mentions a Mullen marriage and a death in Coventry.

Is this your Rose?

What is interesting is that Sarah, mother, died in Mossend, Glasgow.

Father Patrick is shown as born 1878, Drumlish, Longford so this is perhaps why you have posted here, Edward. His parents are named as John Geelan and Maria Walpole.

This small snippet of map will give you an idea of location of Coltness Cottages (which were  off Calder Road/Clydesdale Road, Mossend, in front of a railway line and opposite a school). The original, larger map can be found at: www.old-maps.co.uk. A few of the cottages fronting Clydesdale Road are visible in an old picture that can be found in the book Bygone Bellshill by Rhona Wilson.


Patrick Gillon is noted at  number 34 in the 1920 and 1925 Valuation Rolls, so possibly your Patrick Geelan. Doesn't look to have been there in the 1930/35/40 Rolls. There was a Mrs Sarah Geilon recorded at 90 Hope Street, Mossend in 1935 Rolls.
