Baptism Records
« on: Wednesday 22 January 20 19:39 GMT (UK) »
I am finding it impossible to find my mother's baptism records and unabridged birth certificate. She was born in Cape Town in 1921 but there is no record of her Baptism at the National Archives in Cape Town. Can anyone advise me please?

What church did she belong to? There are quite a few records on-line on familysearch.org.
Her birth record should be in the Archive - maybe she was not born in Cape Town? They have the records for that time frame - getting an official unabridged copy is only possible from the Dept of Home Affairs and you need a modern ID number for the person to apply - and then need to be very patient as they can take years to respond!

From your other thread:

There are 14 trees on ancestry which have your grandfather William Balshaw in them. One -  owner afro43(1) says he was also known as William Selby and has his death as approx 1928. It also says he deserted the army in 1917.

Apparently this is the parents' marriage but I have no idea if that is true.

The source for the use of the SELBY surname is "Statutory Declaration of Harry Balshaw Caldwell, dated 27 February 1981".  Perhaps you need to contact afro43(1) on Ancestry to see what they have to share.

That attached image by Debra gives you the reference in the Cape Archives HAWK 1/3/9/3/25 perhaps using that you can get the department to issue an Unabridged certificate
