Help Needed With Grandad's Form 543
« on: Monday 27 January 20 10:43 GMT (UK) »
Hello everyone. I've recently started a project I've been meaning to look at for a long while, which is my grandfather's WW2 service history. I have a colour photocopy of his form 543, but there are some parts on there I either cannot decipher or find answers for online.

Can anyone please help me?

Many thanks

Alan

hi
i could be way out with this was he in the airforce,
if so D would suggest a key holder for a specific area,
the area possibly being area 2E on an airbase

Hi there,

Thanks for the replies.

You are correct. He was an instrument fitter in the RAF. He worked on Wellington III's & Lancaster Mark II's at 115 Squadron, and on Sunderlands in Coastal Command. Most of his training courses were at 12 School of Technical Training, which the internet tells me was at RAF Melksham.
