Glazzard
« on: Friday 31 January 20 13:58 GMT (UK) »
Ok here it goes.

My great granny was Elizabeth glazzard born circa 1898

Married my great grandfather William Taylor in Stourbridge (the same year an Adam Glazzard married a Florrie Foxall in Stourbridge so possibly related?) there are a number of glazzards in the Lye /sedley area. But I can’t find a direct link to them. I can’t find Elizabeth on any census. I did have a possible link in 1911 but I think I eventually ruled it out as she was listed on another family tree with other descendents.  Can’t find her on 1901 census.

When William does she moved away and married a couple more times and hurried possibly in Kent.

William and Elizabeth has my granny Florence Taylor who married my grandfather Alfred Thomas hardwick.

I haven’t been able to find Elizabeth’s parents. Family rumour has it one of them was Italian Romani gypsy. Some say with mother was but more say it was her dad who was a Romani gypsy. She was often referred to as black, but she was tanned. Obviously so.

I have found other Elizabeth glazzards but ruled them out.

Possibly she was adopted?

Sorry a few spell errors in that.

When William dies Elizabeth moves away and marries a couple more times . Think she died in Kent and was buried in Kent . I can’t find her other spouses names.

Do you have Elizabeth and William's marriage certificate?  That should show her father and his occupation which will help to trace her in census records.

Hopefully it will shed some light on her parents.

The GRO post worldwide, no extra cost.  The certificate will only list her father......or who she said was her father.

The witnesses can sometimes be family members.

Thank you. I’ll have a look at that option so.

I hope she listed her father.

Hi,

Have you ruled this one out?

There's a 2 year old Elizabeth GLAZZARD on the 1901 census to a Richard & Elizabeth of Dudley.

Class: RG13; Piece: 2749; Folio: 102; Page: 28

Using the GRO website there's a Mary Elizabeth born in the 1st quarter of 1899 in Dudley.  Mother's surname was RAYBOULD.

Using FreeBMD there is a marriage of a Richard GLAZZARD to a Mary Elizabeth W RAYBOULD in the 2nd quarter in Dudley.

Yes I’ve ruled that one out. That was my first call. I could see people’s trees and that already had her well documented.  She had different kids, married a different man.
