Millisle Mills
« on: Monday 03 February 20 06:41 GMT (UK) »
My great grand uncle James Fulton purchased the Millisle mills in 1888 from the Carmichael family. According to the Millisle Walking guide James and his brother George made their fortunes in South America.

I would dearly love to know how they made their fortune, and whether there is any paperwork in this regard.

Have you asked http://www.visitstrangfordlough.co.uk/ where they got their information from?

Thank you so much.  I will contact them.

I thought that I had googled extensively but neither of these sites popped up. Obviously I am not that great at searching  ::)

I have contacted the visitstrangfordlough site - hopefully they will be able to help.

South America just seems so very far away from Ireland and it would be fascinating to know what they did there to amass a fortune.
