Census info on Familysearch
« on: Tuesday 04 February 20 12:11 GMT (UK) »
Has anyone else found Scotland census data to be missing from FamilySearch? I was using it only yesterday but, today, I can't find much of it any more.

If I search all records on a given name, then click on 'Collections', I only get the option to filter by births and bps 1564-1950. If I go via Scotland on the main page (via the map), I can see the censuses listed as datasets, but with less than 45k records in each of them.

Anyone else get the same?  ???

Very strange. They come up on the Scottish records listing but when I selected someone I know is there, it just returned a user submitted tree. I then did a broader search with just the surname and the same info came up.

It also doesn't list the 1901 in the census listings.

Hi,

Does anyone know if Scottish Census info been removed from FamilySearch?

I like to use it to try and narrow down who I'm looking for before using up precious credits on Scotlands People. But tonight I'm finding I'm getting next to no results for the names I'm trying.

Looby :)

Thanks for that Gadget.  At least it's not just me.
Wonder what's going on?  ???
I put in a very common Scottish surname and got about 6 results for the 1841 Census.
I'll try again tomorrow.

Looby :)

They have stripped out more records over the last 24 hours - down from 20-45k yesterday to < 6.2k today.

Last time something similar happened, they said the data owner made the decision, not them - which makes me wonder if SP has withdrawn permission. I also wonder if the Scotland BMD records will be taken off as well  :-\ :'(

I had not even realised they had Scottish census records on Familysearch. I assumed they were just available as indexed images on Scotlandspeople and as indexed records on Findmypast and Ancestry.

On Monday I posted a link to the 1881 Scottish census here
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=824998.msg6886055#msg6886055
and to the 1891 in reply #66. Rosie also posted a link in reply #8.

When I click on these three links now I get 'Permission Denied'.

Those that were available on FreeCen are still there but not all years are covered.
