hanks rosie99, did not have that. Had found him as Master & owner of the Billow in 1851.

There were a couple of vessels with the name GERM around in 1873 but this one seems the more likely.
GERM official number 44552 built Wisbech 1866, 85 tons, 74.3ft  length x 19.3 x 9.3
owned from 1867 until 1873 by------ Lloyd's Register says H Walker who is also given as master, The Mercantile Navy List says John Walker of Spalding. I would suggest that H Walker was her Master/Owner.
He could not have died as a result of a total loss as GERM was sold to Robert Dennett of Barrow on Humber in 1874 and was finally deleted from the British Register in 1910. Her registration documents are in the National Archive. it appears that her 1873 logbooks and Crew Agreements have been lost or destroyed.

Per newspaper reports he died on the day that the schooner Germ arrived in the Thames from Caen, having exhibited symptoms of cholera.

rosie99, I have very little about him other than finding him as owner of the Billow, down't know when was he born, married or had any children and where did he live in Spalding. All this would be useful since finding his grave in Spalding Cemetery.

Ancestry has the paperwork for his master's certificate showing that he was master of the Billow from 1843 on. He was born at Market Deeping in 1816.
