John Vorbach
« on: Monday 10 February 20 10:57 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I am trying to find a shipping/immigration record for John Vorbach. Other variations to his name that I have come across are: Johann Konrad/Conrad Vorbach or Konrad/Conrad Vorbach. Vorbach can also been spelt Vorback or Verbach/k.

According to his death certificate he was born in Upper Weisel, Germany in about 1827 (I haven't been able to find a birth record for him yet)  and come to England in about 1841. His death certificate also states that his father's name is William and mother Elizabeth however I know from other peoples research they have a different name for the mother. But I have been unable to find any proof that is correct either.

He married Elizabeth Shield on the 24 Oct 1845 at St. Michael, Ashton Under Lyne, Lancashire, England. I haven't been able to site the certificate yet.

I look forward to seeing what you are able to find.

Thank you.

Do you mean passage from Germany to the UK?

1851 census has wife Elizabeth born Frankfurt same as John so perhaps they came over together.

The marriage transcription gives his father as William.

After the 1841 census am guessing or have you found him in 1841?

Yes sorry Germany to UK.

I haven’t found her either so it’s a possibility that they did come together.

I worked out the date from the details in  his death certificate that it would be about 1841

That’s a possibility. The other record that you had was what a lot of people have that are researching. However I am thinking that it’s incorrect.

Yes that’s the one everyone has. I have no proof that it isn’t besides what’s on his death certificate.
