Descendants of two soldiers being sought.
« on: Saturday 15 February 20 20:56 GMT (UK) »
I found this article in the 'Otago Daily Times' and thought a little more publicity wouldn't go amiss.

Descendants are being sought for these two men:

Sergeant Edward John GARVEY, died 1863.

Sergeant James GRENNAN, died 1866

https://www.odt.co.nz/news/dunedin/descendants-two-soldiers-being-sought

The following found to start the ball rolling:

Inquest:

1866/8283   Grennan   James   37Y

His obituary:

Noting here as rare surname and may be a link:

Catherine GRENNAN

An inquest was held on the 11th April, 1865, at the Bay view Hotel, Maitland street, by Thomas Morland Hocken, Esq., coroner, on the body of Catherine Grennan, aged 35. years, a native of Ireland, who was found dead in her tent off Maitland-street on 11th April, 1865. Verdict, serious apoplexy.

Thinking out loud: If Archway weren't down, would there be a military file for each listing next of kin?

Oh, and wouldn't the Police Museum have something about both?
