Clifford was born in Philadelphia in 1885. His parents were Clifford and Ada Ruth Amos. Clifford senior born in 1859 in Gravesend and Ada Hellis born 1861 in Maida Vale. They married in Lambeth in 1881.
I can find Ada travelling to New York in 1883 with two children - Clifford Hellis Amos and John, but she appears to be travelling without her husband. They appear to have a daughter in Peckham in 1887 so must have travelled back by then.
My problem is I can't find what happened to Clifford Hellis born 1882, or John who do not appear again on any records that I can find. I assume they died. I cannot find any record that Clifford senior travelled to USA. They next record of Clifford Snr is in a Lunatic Asylum in Maidstone in 1901.
At one point I thought both Clifford juniors were the same person but there appears to be a three year difference. Also a copy of his birth certificate appears on Meopham Historical Society site.
Unfortunately Clifford died within 5 weeks of being at the Front. I would like to find some records of his travelling from the US in anyone can help.
