I have been helping my god daughter with her family tree, and I would appreciate some help trying to locate the correct Rose Emily Bills.
Rose Emily Bills marries Andrew Samuel Street in Plaistow October 1913. On the certificate she states she is 19, and her father is Joseph Bills, engineer, deceased.
I could not find anything in births or on the census that matched with a father called Joseph. All I found was a baptism dated 1898 Limehouse, for a Rose Emily Bills born 29/11/1893 to an Emma and Francis Bills (occ mariner). So I looked at the GRO and decided to order the only entry showing for a Rose Emily Bills GRO Reference: 1894 M Quarter in POPLAR Volume 01C Page 669 – MMN blank.
It showed the birth date as 29/11/1893, no father and the mother Emma Bills, preserve factory worker. I found her with her parents on the census in 1871, 1881, 1891 living in Limehouse born c.1869 Limehouse. Father Francis, a shipwright and mother Matilda. Emma’s occupation is pickle filler which fits with the birth certificate. Her father being called Francis made me wonder if she had just borrowed his name for the baptism record.
Other than the father’s name on the marriage certificate, this seems to be the only birth that fits. Have I missed another Rose Emily? Any help greatly appreciated.
