Can I suggest this possible death record - the names of the parents seem to fit - Arthur Murphy and Gabriel Auvray. Birth date varies 12 May 1898
burial - Batesville Casket Co. In Charlotte NC

It says he was cremated by the Batesville Casket Co, Charlotte NC, so he isn't buried anywhere.
It also says he died in the Veteran's Administration hospital, which had me wondering, but his naturalization papers, posted in an earlier reply, say:
"I entered the US Army on August 24, 1942, serial # 32435709" and was transferred to the enlisted reserve corps June 23, 1943
So he qualified for the VA care.

edited to add:
That business about him enlisting in the Army, then being transferred to a reserve corps might have something to do with them not calling men of his age in 1942. My father was born in 1903 and was about to be drafted in 1943 when he enlisted instead in the Navy SeaBees (Construction Battalion). So they might have put Arthur "on hold". But I'm not positive, I am by no means a military expert, I'm just going by my father's experience.
