John DANIELS

I would like to find out more about a relative who served in the 4th Company, 6th Battalion of the Bengal Artillery with the East India Company. As far as I can ascertain, he enlisted in 1837 and served 17 years, but I know little more. So any extra info would be much appreciated. I am sure that some of you are much more acquainted with the East India Company records.

I don't think so. If I have the correct person, he was born in Edmonton in 1815 and died in Hackney in 1902. But it is far from certain that the person born in Edmonton, the one who served in India and the one who died in Hackney are one and the same.

Shaun - that would appear to be him. Many thanks.

I don't want to be greedy, but is there any more?

The birth date and place confirms that this is my John, as it is consistent with his baptism record.
