Wiltshire Assizes - Abbott OSBORN
« on: Friday 13 March 20 03:10 GMT (UK) »
Hello there, this is my first time posting.. I never even knew this existed!

I am hoping someone might be able to help find out about one of my convict ancestors. For the life of me, I cannot find out what he was charged with. I will include the information I do have below:

Name: Abbott Osborn (spelling of his name has been found to vary to "Abbot, Osborne and Osbourne" and even in one record his name was incorrectly transcribed as "Robert".

Abbott was born c.1783 and was convicted on or around the 8th March 1800. He was sentenced for a life term and was transported on the Earl Cornwallis in late 1800, arriving in June 1801.

I am interested in particular as to what he was convicted for but also any information you are able to find from the record (ie. place of residence, recorded age at the time etc that might be able to verify any information I have for him). I would be extremely grateful for any assistance. Thank you.

Regards

Kylie

Hi and welcome   :D

He was tried at the Wiltshire assizes in Salisbury, not Lancashire.
