Rootchat connection using Firefox
« on: Thursday 19 March 20 14:38 GMT (UK) »
After a Firefox update I now get this message when connecting to RC.
Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to www.rootschat.com. Peer using unsupported version of security protocol.

Error code: SSL_ERROR_UNSUPPORTED_VERSION

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.

This web site might not support the TLS 1.2 protocol, which is the minimum version supported by Firefox. Enabling TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 might allow this connection to succeed.

TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 will be permanently disabled in a future release.

There is a box to click on to enable the 2 things to work. Should I do that ? Firefox is my preference.

I have absolutely no idea what`s going on, but just now I wanted to use LincstothePast which was giving me the same problem. I tried using google chrome but the images were blocked by adobe flash, I thought I`d just try it with Firefox and it worked as has Rootschat !!! Happy Days !!

The records i want on Lincstothe past are mainly on microfiche at the archives, so I`ll have to wait for a visit to Lincolnshire !!

TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 is a "handshake" between Peer to Peer.... so I blame Coronavirus   ;D
