Help needed in finding this DUFFY family
« on: Tuesday 24 March 20 05:52 GMT (UK) »
Last seen in Dublin in 1854:

Patrick DUFFY (son of Terence Duffy and Ann Doran/Dornan) married Elinor SWEENEY on 19 March 1835 in Dublin. They had these children, all baptised Dublin:

William Henry bapt 6 March 1836
Anna bapt 15 Mar 1837
Margaret bapt 30 Jan 1840
Patrick bapt 30 May 1841
Edward bapt July 1846
Patrick bapt 8 July 1849
Henry bapt 6 March 1854

Patrick was a timber merchant, working with his father, Terence Duffy, in Dublin. They were declared insolvent in 1839.

I can't find any trace of them after the baptism of son Henry in 1854, nor of his parents, Terence and Ann, after 1839.

Any leads gratefully received :-)

According to Slaters 1846 Patrick Duffy's home address was Foster Terrace, this address seems to indicate where Terence Duffy died in 1845 when entering it into the address box on Glasnevin index

Many thanks, dathai, what great info! It's really late here in Qld - I'll have a close look tomorrow. You've really been a big help!

Jan

The Irish Times newspaper (edition for 3rd July 1865) shows in the Death Column the death of Patrick Duffy at St.Helens 20 Rathgar Road (then Co.Dublin but now within the city boundary).
Shaws Pictorial Directory 1850 show s a Patrick Duffy (Timber Merchant) at Nos.18 & 19 Halston St in the City of Dublin and at Foster Bldgs. 101 Phibsboro Road in the Index. In the Street Section only the entry for Halston Street agrees with the Index. (This is not uncommon for Shaws Directory).
I hope this adds to your knowledge.
