I’m researching the origins of an ancestor Thomas Feland (Phelan) born about 1730 somewhere in Ulster. Griffiths has the Phelan name in the counties listed in the subject line. Thomas purportedly emigrated to America around 1750 with 2 brothers although I’ve seen no specific reference or found the 2 brothers in other Eastern destinations. Thomas I believe, came to the Maryland colonies, specifically Talbot County. I postulate he served a period of indenture of 3-5 years in Talbot County, MD before making the journey to Lincoln, Loudoun, Virginia on the way to the frontier. He may have been a road overseer as he was associated with William and John Quinton who were the same. Thomas was married either in Loudoun, Virginia or Campbell County, VA to Catherine Quinton, daughter of William Quinton about 1754. The Feland family settled in Lincoln and other early KY counties.
Any clues as to origins or general historical context, history or reference is welcome. If I can at least narrow down the county in Ulster, that would be helpful.
