State of Emergency Covid-19 (Part 8 - Lockdown)
« on: Wednesday 01 April 20 14:54 BST (UK) »
I'd read something about this in the news that said it was okay for window cleaners to continue working. All the window cleaners must have read it, mine came yesterday too!

I think anyone who does jobs like gardening, window cleaning etc can continue as long as they do not have to enter the house. I think it is also recommended that they work alone or with a maximum of one other person.

Today in my daily paper comments (Titchmarsh - who could have been said to have a vested interest  ) about waste when Garden Centres closed, and why couldn't they remain open. Must admit, now so many of us are confined to Barracks, getting even with the weeds and prettying up the borders seems to be very therapeutic. Also need some potting compost .... do any garden centres deliver, I wonder?

I ordered my plug plants online as usual earlier in the year.I haven't heard anything to make me think they won't be despatched this month and/or next. Hope I'm right!

If people were waiting to buy their bedding plants at Easter at a garden centre, it may still be possible for them to order online. Worth a try, anyway.

I can't see why Alan T would have a vested interest, other than that he's a plant lover???

I do feel sorry for the garden centre owners, though. I hope it doesn't mean even more of them turning into glorified gift shops!

I just tried to order some more seeds online, - no joy:-(

Garden Centres round here are closed. Several well-known Sites are down, (Thompson and Morgan, etc). Most of the smaller ones say they're not accepting new orders...

I'll just have to grow what I've already got here!

Romilly.

There was a huge nursery featured on our local news last night. Acres of bedding plants all under glass, waiting to go out to smaller nurseries. They are not geared up to supply to the public. Such a waste. I don’t see a solution to this, unless nurseries and garden centres operated the same way the supermarkets are at the moment. Seems it’s too late now.

I ordered a couple of packets of seeds from Amazon, it said they'd been dispatched, expected by yesterday but nothing received yet. Haven't yet received the paperback I ordered either.

Yes Jill, - they're not accepting new orders:-(

Everything I've had from them, (Dobies) previously has done really well.
