Sharp Family of Great Addington, Northamptonshire
« on: Monday 06 April 20 02:21 BST (UK) »
Is anyone descended from the Sharp family of Great Addington? Joseph Sharpe and Sarah Codgbrook were married at Great Addington on Oct 4, 1753 after the reading of banns. Joseph Sharpe was baptized at Broughton, Northamptonshire, the son of Thomas Sharpe and Elizabeth his wife 06/ 12/ 1730. Sarah Codgobrooks was baptized on 16 / 10/ 1726 at Cranford St. Andrew, the daughter of Tho. Codgobrookes and Sarah. That couple were the grandparents of my 3rd great grandfather, John Sharp. John Sharp was a son Joseph Sharp & Hannah (nee Green) and was baptized at Great Addington, All Saints on 01 Sep 1794. John Sharp was a shepherd who eventually settled in Barnwell St. Andrews. My 2nd great grandfather, James Sharp, moved to Eye, Northamptonshire.

I have a Sarah Sharp c1809 who married Thomas Boothey in Finedon in 1827. I notice Finedon is 5 miles to GA

I have a pencilled parents of Sarah as James Sharp and Elizabeth Caporn - they were married in Towcester in 1801

I do note Towcester is a fair distance from either Finedon and GA - hence my pencilling in only

Do you have a Sarah Sharp?

She is my maternal line ancestor ie if you go mothers mothers mother you get to Sarah

If not thank you for taking the time to look

Hello,
I do have 2 Sarah Sharp entries: 1 in Great Addington & one in Little Addington but both a few years before your c 1809. Did your Sarah Sarah live long enough to be entered in 1851 or 1861 or later census? She would have listed her birthplace. Have you tried a free program like familysearch to find the Sarah Sharp baptisms for a year or two either side of 1809 to see what pops up? There might be too many entries, but might only be a few, and there might be another close to Finedon. What have you been able to find about her 1827 marriage? Were fathers listed? Who were witnesses?  Another place I found helpful (although there is a charge) is GenesReunited. People will get notifications of when others have the same names in their tree. Sometimes valuable info from those other people.
I hope this helps you in your search!
