Catherine Smith (Rose)

I'm trying to find the date and place that Catherine Smith died and was buried. Her husband Alexander Smith, who she married about 1796, died on Oct. 5, 1854 and is buried in Dunlichity Cemetery I believe in grave #50.
Her name is on the tombstone but no dates with it. I can't find her in any census 1841 and onward.
Her last child Hugh was born in 1815.
I believe her parents were William and Isabel Rose.
Her husband Alexander was a Blacksmith at Achlaschoille which was in the, parish of Daviot/Dunlichity, according to his tombstone which was erected by their son Andrew who went to Canada in 1832.

Sadly there are no death records at Dunlichity on SP pre statutory registration in 1855.

Thanks Colin, that at least tells me she died before 1855. I wonder why her son didn't put her date of death on the tombstone unless she died after her husband in 1854.

There is this possible 1841 entry for Alexander Smith, but showing as a farmer:

Address: Achlaischoil, Daviot and Dunlichity

1851 gives similar details. Born c 1769 in Daviot. Occupation Joint Farmer Of 30 Ac 3 Servants. His son Alexander Jnr and his young family living with him.

That 1841 census is Catherine's husband Alexander and two of their children, Alex and Isabel. Alexander was a Farmer and Blacksmith.
If Catherine was alive in 1841 she wasn't in that census.
The stone inscription says..
Erected by Andrew Smith America CW in memory of his father Alexander Smith  ? Blacksmith Achlaschoile who died 5th Oct. 1854 aged 87 years
and of his mother Catherine Rose who died ----- aged -----years
Also of his brother Hugh

Hugh is Andrew's brother

And I can't find Catherine in any census of her children and their families where she may have been at the time of the census. This leads me to believe that she died before 1841.

Very likely. Have you made enquiries about the earliest possible survey that was undertaken of the graves for the graveyard? I can see reference to a booklet published in 2010 only so far.

I did see another person mentioned as being buried in Lair 50:

There is a Catherine Smith in #64  who died in 1843 with an Andrew who died in the same year and plot but no Catherine with Alex in 50.
I have seen this list before but I haven't identified all the Smith's who are connected to Alexander and Catherine (although they probably were all related to each other in some way).
They were my 3rd great grandparents  and I have researched their children and their families
