Is a district missing in 1891 for Aberystwyth
« on: Saturday 11 April 20 19:51 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find a William Jones , age unknown but living in Powell Street Aberystwyth in 1891. I have gone through districts 01, 02, 03 and 05, but can't see Powell Street.  Should there be a district 04. This is on Ancestry.
There is a newspaper report that his widowed son in law R E Jones 47 died at that adress in May 1891.

Other names I picked up from newspapers around census date at Powell Street are also not found.

Enumeration District 4 appears to be missing from Ancestry, but it isn't. For some reason Ancestry choose to arrange the census by 'Civil Parish'. If you access by browsing the drop-down menu shows districts 1,2,3 and 5 listed under Aberystwyth, but district 4 is under St Michael, which is the ecclesiastical parish.

This happens a lot on Ancestry, there are some very odd listings in those drop-down menus!

Thanks for that, some one had sent me the image,  and I found it again with your tips.
Unfortunately I can only find the image using the page number  from the image sent.
I`m still not finding it by a normal search.
There is a son and I can`t make out his name, and I can`t find the Transcription to see what it might be.
I`m struggling to find this family before this.
William Jones 65 mining agent  b Aberystwyth
Mary Jones 67 b  Llanfihangel
Jhr W ? son 27 coal miner b Llanbadarn
Richard E Jones  47 visitor b Llanbadarn
Mary J Jones 27 grand daughter b Llanbadarn

This is how the family have been transcribed

William Jones 25
Mary Jones 67
Thos M Jones 27
Rich E Jones 47
Mary J Jones 23
Mary Pritchard 19

As you can see William is transcribed as 25 not 65. Maybe that is why you cannot find him?
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.
