Oakley Cora Stevenson death
« on: Sunday 12 April 20 15:15 BST (UK) »
I could use some help with Oakley.
She was born 1896 Paulding Co, Ohio and married Floyd Walters(1893-1919) in 1913 Monroe Michigan. She remarried to Edwin James Gloyd 1926 Sandusky, Ohio. In 1930/40 she is shown as Helen Gloyd living in Milwaukee. In 1930 her daughter Vauneda Walter is with her. Why the name change is a mystery.
Edwin J Gloyd dies 6 Oct 1961 in Milwaukee. Could someone have a look for an obit for him to see if Oakley/Helen is mentioned please?

Thanks Sandra.
So Oakley/Helen is alive in 1961 but location unknown. I am puzzled why his death would show in the Wisconsin Death Index if he died in Arizona.

For what it is worth, a tree at ancestry says Oakley Cora "Helen" (Stevenson) Gloyd died January 1, 1967, in Detroit, Michigan. No source given.
According to Edwin's obituary, Helen's daughter Mrs Vaughn Hickey was living in Detroit when he died.

Edwin was an employee of the Burns Detective Agency and had moved to Tuscon a few months previous to his death.

It might have to do with him being a residence of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was probably in Arizona just temporarily working on a case.

His death certificate for Arizona. Informant Mrs. Edwin J Gloyd, Milwaukee, WI.

Supposedly  he was to be buried in Detroit, Michigan, but I'm not seeing a Brookline Cemetery listed in Detroit? Would Helen be buried at the cemetery also?

===

Edit-
Forgot to add that Edwin's death notice in the Milwaukee Journal didn't bring up any new information or leads.

Thanks RJ137

Another puzzle. Why be buried in Detroit when his wife was living in Milwaukee? His parents were buried in Ohio and neither of his sons were living in Detroit although two stepchildren were living in Michigan.
From what I could find there is no Brookline Cemetery in Michigan. Same for Wisconsin.
