Hammersley
« on: Tuesday 14 April 20 14:49 BST (UK) »
Hi please please can anyone help !! My brick wall is made of cast iron I think😬
I am trying to find the Mother of Frank Arthur Hammersley b.1906. Also his brother Leslie Hammersley b.1912/3.Manchester  I can not find Frank on ancestry 1911 census.
I have Leslie Hammersley marriage certificate to Doris Alice Hall. I also have Frank's marriage certificate to Florence Mabel Farrell both of these have the Father as John Hammersley  I would dearly love to know Frank and Leslie's Mother's maiden Name so that I can work backwards.
I only have a few days left on Ancestry but I've been trying for last 3 weeks with no luck. I know a StClair for Frank pops up but it's Leslie's Mother's maiden name that's bugging me.
Thanks in advance
Nattrass  -     Heaton  -    Segwick  -  Hammersley  -  Hall -  Prestwich.  Heartwell

Frank's baptism record gives his DOB as Jan 28 1906, so he should have been registered in the Mar qtr of 1906.

There is also a birth in 1909 (surname Hammersley, mmn Allen) - a James Stuart, but this was in Cheadle.

Yes, I was thinking that too.  I can see them on the 1911 census in Alton, Staffs.  It was the surname combinations that made me wonder.

I think they may be in South Manchester in 1911 under the surname Sinclair
